The curriculum vitae will cover Daniels' IT skills from 1998 until today's date, more detailed information is to be found here and information describing Daniels' on going and previous projects are found here.

 

Daniel Söderström began his IT career working for Ericsson as a system administrator.

The branch of Ericsson that Daniel was working at had 1500 staff members, 40 of them was IT staff that took care of 100 Unix servers, 1500 Unix clients, 20 Windows servers, 800 Windows clients and lots of applications and databases. Daniel started as a Windows desktop support engineer, but realized that he had to learn Solaris since most employees used Sun workstations. Ericsson sent Daniel on Sun Solaris system administrator training and Daniel decided to obtain the Sun Certified System Administrator certificate.

 

Daniel was an important and resourceful employee for Ericsson and was rewarded in 1999 with a trip to the International Desktop Support Conference held in San Francisco (USA) and in 2000 with a trip to the 14th System Administration Conference (LISA2000) in New Orleans (USA).

 

 

Daniel begun working for PROACT IT Sweden AB in 2001, you will find specific information about PROACT here.

Daniel position involved working in the Backup/Recovery division as a Storage Engineer, with products from Sun, NetApp, Veritas, EMC/Legato, Storagetek/SUN and ADIC just to mention a few. Since Daniel had a background as a Solaris, Legato Networker and NetApp system administrator, PROACT kept him working with those products and he decided to obtain the Legato Certified Networker Specialist certificate.

 

Most of Daniel clients were large Scandinavian banks or large multinational companies like Ericsson, Volvo IT, Scania and AstraZeneca.

TeliaSonera requested in 2004 specificly Daniels' help, his main responsibility was to help with the implementation of the newly designed backup/disaster recovery solution, but also to take care of  daily tasks such as capacity planning and performance tuning during the datacenter consolidation.

  

Daniel developed very good disaster recovery skills, good knowledge about different flavours of UNIX and other related products during my time at PROACT. He also achieved good understanding about SAN, NAS and TCP/IP networking, since Daniel was troubleshooting large computer environments on a daily basis.

 

 

2005; Daniel fullfilled three contracts at Griffith University between June 2005 and July 2006. Griffith University is one of the largest Universities in Queensland (Australia) with 5 campuses and ~30´000 students, you will find more information about Griffith University here.

 

Daniels' first contract included first level Solaris support, adding/removing user/email accounts, monitoring servers, troubleshooting bottlenecks, adding/removing DNS, DHCP, SPAM filter entries. His second contract included second level Solaris support, installation & implementation of a new jumpstart server and new Solaris 10 (container/zone) environment as well as installing a few Apache servers with PHP and Oracle support.

 

The third contract Daniel was given was as Senior Solaris System administrator. Daniel evaluated and designed a new DHCP and DNS solution for the University based on a product from Infoblox. Daniel re-designed the current Solaris patching system as well as evaluated Novell Zenworks Patchingtool “patchlink” and contributed to the Disaster Recovery project with his knowledge and expertise.

 

 

2006; Daniel begun working for RedBridge AB one month after arriving from Australia. RedBridge AB deliver cost effective products based on OpenSource software, find more information about RedBridge AB here.

 

Daniel received the RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certificate in March 2007 (No. 804007346525125, verify the certificates at:  https://www.redhat.com/training/certification/verify).

 

 

2008; Daniel decided to open www.solidit.se and share the expertice with the world, enjoying life and the adventures that follows.

 

 

Daniel has developed confidence and skills in install and troubleshoot different customer’s server-, network- and storage-environments. And achieved most of his Solaris administration skills at Ericsson and Griffith University but got more specialized in specific areas such as data-storage and storage-hardware at PROACT and Opensource at RedBridge AB. Daniel have excellent recommendation letters from his former employers.
